THERE'S NO FANSERVICE!!!

Yeah, sorry. But I'd like to briefly say what I thought of the work...

Well, it sucks! I mean, I know the historical importance of this manga, it was one of the main reasons for the popularization of football in Japan. The author even has a place in the Japanese football hall of fame. Great players have said they've had contact with the work or some animated adaptation, that's undeniable...

However, this is a great example of "aged badly." The art style is that one 'dated' from the 80s, the chapters are absurdly long, averaging 60 pages, but many exceed 100 and some even surpass 200, it's almost torture. The characters are very similar, often differing for a hairstyle or something like that. Poses are often repeated, the protagonist is perfection personified, the jokes are weak, humor isn't the manga's strong point, it doesn't focus on the story or the drama... and this leads us to what irritated me the most: it's not just a manga with a football theme, it's literally only football, 99% of the entire story takes place in matches, and let's just say it's not as interesting as watching a real football match.

Maybe you'll like it if you're interested in its style or simply want to read it for historical value, as I did. The scanlate is available for download.

I've included some cute images of Sanae/Anego and Kumi here, it's the best I could find.
