I really enjoyed the story, you can feel a strong influence from previous works in the genre (sometimes the recipe for success is simply doing what's "right"). The last arc of the manga felt quite dragged out, with chapters almost always ending the same way... and also the presence of something known as "plot no jutsu"... Anyway, another thing I noticed was the change in the scenes of violence and gore, in the beginning, decapitation and carnage were more common, but they avoided such scenes towards the second half of the manga, using shadows and different angles instead. All these changes I mentioned occurred at a time when the brand name was already very popular with adaptations in other media, which ended up somewhat overshadowing the original work, something that normally happens.

Now, regarding the fanservice, there's quite a bit, however, the artist has even admitted to not knowing how to draw female characters, which is noticeable because the girls aren't very attractive, but even so, it's fair, and you can see that he did his best... there's Oiroke no Jutsu and its derivatives, and several other comedic relief scenes... Could it be better? Maybe, but it's quite "okay".

Here's the compilation of the best parts I could gather, just avoiding repetitions of the exact same angles.
